This week we faced bottom of the league Mortonhampstead at home. Once again the team changed, with three players stepping upto join the first team squad, and one stepping down to the thirds.
With Matt Thompson away coaching cricket,James Horn very kindly stepped in to help us out in goal,Luke Chittenden coming back into the starting elleven to replace Dan Greaves.
From the opening minute is one was way traffic really, wave after wave of attacks,we managed to hit the wood work 6 times in the first half, their keeper to his credit pulled of some super saves to keep the scoring down, recalled striker James Horrocks eventually slotted away a neat finish to make it 1-0,Karl Baker soon added a second with some neat footwork.
The boys were in improved form from the last six to seven weeks, and with a new refreshing attitude the goals continued to flow,Rob Helmore tapped home from a Horrocks cross, soon after Karl added his second beating five players before placing the ball past the keeper,Rob added his second with another tap in from a yard out.
Half time 4 -0.
A nice team talk for once, not so many rasied voices as the last month.
We started the second half as we had the first, driving through looking to score more goals for our goal difference,Karl completed his hatrick with another fine finish, que the end of his days work for us,Tom Birch replacing him,Luke Horrel replaced Dave Jolly with half and hour left. With the game already won,Dan Harmer switched with Jay in goal, within minutes Jay had managed to get his name on the score sheet, fair play. A Stoke game without Matt White scoring would be rare, low and behold Matt added two goals,to continue his fine run,of 18 goals in around as many games.
With the game now done and dusted there was still twenty minutes for me to make a comeback appearance, replacing Rob Helmore, within minutes some neat play from Jay,Matt White and then Daisey, saw me have a great chance to score, but sadly i fluffed my lines, another chance for the new centre forward from a good cross from Daz Munday, saw my not so powerful header saved by the keeper.
Final Score 9-0
MOM Karl Baker
Well done chaps, another 3 pts,to keep us elleven points clear.
Nect week we face Brixham United at Home.
STOKE Gabriel Reserves went some way to putting their Lidstone Cup exit at the hands of Newton 66 behind them as they hammered Division Two basement boys Moretonhampstead 9-0.
